One vice that my husband and I share is our love for coffee! You can even say that we are passionate about that small and bitter when roasted well bean. And although our kids are not really into coffee, they do like the occasional small latte, and our grandkids enjoy hot chocolate with steamed milk!
So, is it any wonder that many of our couple talks are over a cup of coffee….double espresso for me and a mug of latte for him?
So what does coffee have anything to do with cleaning then?
It is a normal occurrence in our house that weekend cleaning is paired with a cup or two of steaming hot coffee! On a Saturday morning, after our usual coffee early in the morning, we start with our weekly general tidying up. Since everyone is out of the house the whole week, some chores are often left for the weekend and Saturday mornings are when we do them. So that means pairing up something I definitely like with something I generally do not enjoy! So as I gear up for the cleaning task ahead, my husband already starts to bring out the “tools” he needs to give us both what we like….coffee!
In between wiping the benchtop and the stovetop, the coffee cups come out. At the same time, I empty the dishwasher, the coffee beans go through the grinder, and while the lounge area gets dusted, the aroma of coffee wafts through the air!
And after I’ve finished my first cleaning task of the day, I take a break and reach for my freshly made espresso. Ahhh…the simple pleasure a small cup brings! My husband likes a strong latte so, he too sits for a few minutes to take a sip. And after that mini-break, the tidying up begins again – until it’s time for another cup!
